Research

Fionn Consultancy never tires of the simple joy of discovery.

Our research skills, backed by formal qualifications, range from heritage subjects, particularly strong in transport, through to action research in audience development and in education.

We develop strong research methodologies and ensure that we utilize our large network of resources and people to gain maximum value from the research.

We have undertaken commissioned historical research about inter alia the Aycliffe Angels, W.H. Audenmodel railways, coal mining, railways and the Tyne Valley. Our action research has looked at the impact of changing elements of curriculum delivery in schools, and exploring ways in which audience development in heritage sites can be inclusive for all.

Fiona has twice presented at LILAC. At Cardiff in 2009 and Limerick in 2010. Robert presented at IIID in Wien in 2008.

Our library is now steadily being catalogued online at Library Thing.

Robert offers a very wide range of talks and presentations. Introducing one of these Ian Forbes, former director of Killhope the North of England Lead Mining Museum, said at a Friends of the North Pennines Walking Festival Auden Talk at Alston 5th October 2013 “I have known Robert for many years, he is a kind of Renaissance man”.

David Walker of the Prudhoe Local History Society in January 2014 “Thank you so much for your excellent illustrated talk yesterday evening. Even though I was brought up in Prudhoe, I had no idea of the existence of so many of the bus services you mentioned. Despite the regular interruptions, you handled them very well, and they did demonstrate the real interest your audience had in the subject.”
